The LUSHS is a favorite of Casey Folks, Director of Best In The Desert. "I have to say we have had some good Laughlin events, and we have had some great Laughlin events, but the 2009 event is expected to be the Best Of The Best. I think anyone who has raced it in the past will tell you it is an awesome event, tough but awesome!" "We also have the best of the best racing the tough Laughlin race," says Folks, "come out and watch the Open Pro’s race for Kawasaki Team Green, they make it look so easy!"

Kawasaki Team Green will once again be the sponsor of the Laughlin U.S. Hare Scrambles Championship Team Race and the River Palms Resort & Casino will be our host hotel. We are very excited about our Kawasaki Team Green sponsor and the host hotel in Laughlin, the awesome River Palms Resort & Casino. Nestled on the bank of the Colorado River, the BEST IN THE DESERT off-road race headquarters will be unlike any other in the world. The River Palms Resort & Casino is a resort that combines the exhilaration of Nevada-style gaming action with lots of old-fashioned western hospitality. The Kawasaki Team Green and the River Palms Resort & Casino is excited about sponsoring the Laughlin event!

The 2009 race will have one central pit with two separate  loops on each side of the pit area. Now, for those of you who are wondering "Will the 2009 course be tight and technical?" the answer is YES! YES! YES! It’s TIGHT and TECHNICAL and the Motorcycle community loves TIGHT and TECHNICAL! Get ready for the Best Of The Best!

The Laughlin USHS will start with the Pro Motorcycle riders leaving the line at 7:30 am and will be followed by the Experts and Amateurs. The central pit will be off of Highway-163 just 10 miles North of Laughlin.

From Cycle News:

However, the biggest buzz surrounded the efforts of first-time entrant Jesse James. Despite logging many desert racing miles in his Trophy truck, the custom chopper builder and reality television star had never raced a motorcycle in the desert. So, for his upcoming series "Jesse James in a Dead Man" in which he tackles various "extreme" tasks, he borrowed a Blaisracing.com KTM 530 XC-W and rode Ironman Expert with a crew of about a dozen cameras (including a helicopter) filming his every waking moment.

Unfortunately, a bad crash while training at Jeremy McGrath’s private track a few days before left him with a tweaked back and other possible injuries, and James completed only one of the two laps required for Ironman racers.

With wife Sandra Bullock looking on, the disappointed James sat in the back of a box van recounting his adventure for the cameras and said, "You know, I have a whole new respect for bike guys now."
